RNIP
Your Gateway to Settling in Small and Remote Canadian Communities
The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is an initiative spearheaded by the Government of Canada, aimed at fostering economic immigration to smaller and more remote communities in Ontario, Western Canada, and the territories. This community-driven program offers skilled foreign workers a pathway to permanent residency, thus contributing to the growth and development of these regions.
Building upon the success of the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), the RNIP empowers eligible communities in provinces and territories to facilitate permanent residence for foreign workers of diverse skill levels. According to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), participating communities must meet specific eligibility criteria, such as having a population of no more than 50,000, situated at least 75 kilometers from a metropolitan area of 100,000 or more, or being classified as remote with a maximum population of 200,000.
Participating Communities in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot:
- North Bay, Ontario
- Sudbury, Ontario
- Timmins, Ontario
- Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
- Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Brandon, Manitoba
- Altona/Rhineland, Manitoba
- Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
- Claresholm, Alberta
- Vernon, British Columbia
- West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), British Columbia
